About Nancy L. Hoffmann

Growing up as the granddaughter of the Editor of The Chicago Daily News, Nancy learned to write concisely and accurately, in spite of her early resistance to authority. Now, at a more advanced age, she admits you have to do your research and assemble your facts before you begin to write.

ACh 1949

Nancy was also exposed to the world of advertising at an early age. Her father was a highly successful commercial photographer, primarily specializing in food and fashion clients (but also doing work for TIME Magazine), and she virtually grew up in the studio. Eventually, realizing her father's worst fears, she made her way into the business, too.

In addition to many years in advertising, Nancy has also written materials for the residential real estate, financial and life insurance markets. Her clients have included companies as diverse as UBS; The Chicago Mercantile Exchange; entertainment firms; Macy's; various banks; and real estate brokers and developers, among many other industries.

Furthermore, her legal proofreading clients represent a selection of some of the world's biggest law firms: including Baker & McKenzie; Hughes, Hubbard; and Ropes & Gray.

Nancy earned a BA in Fine Art and Humanities from Scripps College (one of the prestigious associated colleges in Claremont, CA), and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from National/Louis University (Evanston, IL).

Nancy is fluent in English and French; conversant in Spanish and German; and speaks basic Arabic (Lebanese/Syrian/Palestinian dialect), as well.

Currently, she lives and works in the Chelsea district of New York City.
